Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
So one of my faaaaaave things to bake is oatmeal chocolate chip cookies... they are super easy and fast and they make my apartment smell amazing. i started making them a few years ago from the recipe on the bottom of the lid of quaker oats but switched the raisins with chocolate chips and started adding a little nutmeg and extra vanilla. the only thing i have trouble with is that sometimes i leave them too long and they're a little dry- oops. but if you're careful (or use a timer which i don't know WHY I have such a problem with- i "wing it" and i need to not do that because i clearly cannot wing well) they will come out perfect every time.
Ingredients:
1/2 pound (2 sticks) margarine or butter, softened
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 tblsp. vanilla
1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tsp. nutmeg
3 cups Quaker Oats (quick or old fashioned, uncooked)
1 cup chocolate chips
Directions:
- preheat oven to 350 degrees
- mix everything together and smoosh it up with your hands
- roll balls about 1 inch thick and place on a tin-foil lined cookie sheet at least an inch apart
- bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown (careful!)
- let them cool and enjoy! and enjoy the loveeeeely spicy scent too :) i think that's why i bake them too long, i get caught up in the fragrance and forget about the food altogether ha... it's that good!
